Call for steering group members: Social science and publishing projects
Call for steering group members: Social science and publishing projects

The ISC is launching two new projects for which we are seeking nominations from ISC Members for steering groups.

1. Social Science Matters: Strengthening the voice and contributions of the social sciences and humanities in sustainable development policy

The project will explore how the role and visibility of the social sciences and humanities can be enhanced in the current sustainability policy landscape at national and multilateral levels and how ISC Members can collaborate, exchange ideas, lessons and capacities more effectively in this area. Interested individuals from within the ISC membership are invited to express their interest in serving on the Steering Group by completing the online nomination form by 2 July:

https://council.science/news/call-steering-group-social-science-matters/.

2. Forum on Publishing and Research Assessment

Recognizing that publishing and research assessment are interconnected, this project will bring together both communities in a shared Forum to find solutions that address common challenges and create a concrete plan for coordinated action on reform. Interested individuals from within the ISC membership are invited to express their interest in serving on the Steering Group by completing the online nomination form by 27 June: https://council.science/news/call-steering-group-forum-publishing-research-assessment/.

We invite all ISC Members to share the two calls for nominations widely within their Member organization and encourage interested individuals to be nominated or self-nominate for the project steering groups.

3. New global survey on participation in scientific organizations
For ISC Members and your networks

The ISC, together with the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) and the Standing Committee for Gender Equality in Science (SCGES), has launched a global qualitative survey to understand how scientists experience participation in scientific organizations. The survey explores access, roles, and leadership pathways; perceived benefits and barriers; organizational culture and inclusion; as well as policies, recognition, and experiences of discrimination. Your insights will help shape recommendations to foster more equitable and inclusive participation. All individual scientists affiliated with scientific organizations, including academies, unions and associations, societies, science councils, and young scientist organizations are invited and highly encouraged to take part.

Thank you in advance for circulating this survey widely among your members and networks and encouraging responses by 6 July via
