African Academy of Sciences Delegation Visited Ghana’s Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology Ahead of ARISE 2025

A delegation from the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) paid a courtesy and working visit to the Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, accompanied by the Ministry’s technical team. The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming High-Level African Research Initiative for Scientific Excellence (ARISE), which was scheduled to take place in Ghana in July 2025. 

The visit formed part of ongoing strategic engagements aimed at ensuring the successful hosting of the ARISE high-level convening, a landmark continental event intended to advance scientific research, foster innovation, and strengthen institutional collaborations across Africa. 

During the discussions, the delegation and Ministry representatives explored key areas including strategic planning, partnership development, resource mobilization, and logistical coordination. Both parties emphasized their shared commitment to leveraging the event as a platform to showcase Ghana’s leadership in science and technology and to drive scientific excellence on the continent. 

Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed reaffirmed Ghana’s dedication to supporting ARISE 2025, describing it as a pivotal moment for the country and Africa at large in accelerating innovation-led growth and development.
