H.E. Sassou-Nguesso Denis was elected as an AAS Fellow in 2014. As a fellow, H.E. Sassou-Nguesso Denis contributes to the development of the Academy's strategic direction through participation in AAS activities and governance structures. This gears the Academy's vision of transforming African lives through science.

Denis Sassou Nguesso (born 23 November 1943) is a Congolese politician who has been the President of the Republic of the Congo since 1997; he was previously President from 1979 to 1992.
