Doha Eid Hassan

Doha Eid Hassan was elected as an AAS Fellow in 2006. As a fellow, Doha Eid Hassan contributes to the development of the Academy's strategic direction through participation in AAS activities and governance structures. This gears the Academy's vision of transforming African lives through science.

Biography

He received his B.Sc. in Mathematics in 1967, M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics in 1972 at Cairo University and PhD in Pure Mathematics at Lancaster University (UK) in 1977. Prof. Doha is currently Head Department of Mathematics at Cairo University and Head of Promotion Committee of Research Assessment for Associate Professorships – Supreme Council of Egyptians Universities.  His earlier appointments include: Demonstrator, Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor at Cairo University. His research areas are:  Spectral methods for ordinary and partial differential equations by using orthogonal polynomials, connection and linearization problems between classical continuous – discrete and q-orthogonal polynomials, polynomial and rational approximation for functions defined by differential equations. He has been research visitor in Italy and Saudi Arabia. He is Editorial Board Member of IJAMS, Member of American Mathematical Society, Vice President of the Egyptian Mathematical Society, Member of SIAM, Chairman of the Egyptian National Evaluation Committee for promoting Assistant Professor in Mathematics, Reviewer for Zentrablatt Mathematics. He has 27 publications.
