The Affiliates Programme recognizes and supports the development of promising African early and mid-career scientists into world class research leaders who contribute to the Academy’s vision of transforming lives through sciences.

Dr. Teddie Rahube, a Senior Lecturer with at least 10 years in academia, is actively involved in research aimed at characterizing antibiotic resistant bacteria and plasmids encoding antibiotic resistance genes from clinical and non-clinical environments. He is a cultured Microbiologist, with background on medical diagnostics, he expanded his research involving local and international postgraduate students and collaborators, focusing on One Health antimicrobial resistance and infectious diseases surveillance. He has contributed significantly to teaching and research in the field of Microbial Genomics, currently advocating towards the establishment of Next-generation sequencing technologies, to advance Genomics and Bioinformatics in Botswana and Africa. He was elected as an AAS Affiliate for his scientific excellence and commitment to One Health focused research, dedication to promoting cultural exchange through international collaborations, and efforts to solve global health problems using advanced Science, Technology, and Innovation.
