The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) is convening its bi-annual General Assembly (GA- 2024) in an expanded Global African Science and Technology (GAST) Forum. It will be held over a period of three days (9-12 December 2024) including a pre-event day, with the theme: Empowering and Advancing Africa’s Scientific Enterprise. The AAS GA-2024 will unite some 1,000 outstanding thinkers and distinguished stakeholders from around the world, including and specifically Africa’s global Diaspora. The event will be held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, in Abuja, Nigeria.

The program overview is as follows:
The pre GA Event –8 thematic Working Groups shall convene to discuss Policy and Practice matters relating to their respective areas of specialization. The objective is to formulate ten key recommendations for elevating the work of the AAS in Africa with our global partners to advance "excellence/competitiveness"

Is there a call for paper submission during the conference?

No, there is no call for papers. Speakers are by invitation. We do invite the broad African Scientific, Academic and Policy Communities to attend the conference in person or virtually. Please register, and participation link will be sent to you.

Is there any support to attend the meeting?

No, attendance will be at individual costs

What if I cannot attend the in-person, will there be an option to attend virtually?

Yes, the conference will be hybrid, allowing for both in-person and virtual attendance options

INFORMATION ABOUT VISA PROCUREMENT FOR AAS CONFERENCE 2024
Participants from Africa who wish to attend the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) conference
and General Congress in Abuja, Nigeria, from December 8 to 12, 2024, will generally need to
obtain a visa to enter the country. Below is the information concerning the visa types and
requirements:

  1. Visa Types
  • Business Visa: Suitable for conference participants.
  • Tourist Visa: This can also be used if the stay is short and primarily for conference purposes.
