The African Academy of Sciences Welcomes 88 Newly Elected Fellows
The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) is pleased to announce the election of eighty-eight distinguished scientists and Scholars as Fellows of the African Academy of Sciences (FAAS), comprising the classes of 2023 and 2024. These distinguished Scholars, elected through a rigorous and merit-based process, have demonstrated excellence in their respective fields and have significantly contributed to the advancement of science, technology, and scholarship in Africa and globally.
The newly elected Fellows represent a diverse spectrum of academic disciplines, spanning the Academy’s ten disciplinary clusters. Their election into the AAS Fellowship underscores their commitment to scientific excellence and their dedication to addressing Africa’s most pressing challenges through research and scholarship.
AAS Fellows are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of science and their role in shaping policies that drive sustainable development across the continent. The election of these eighty-eight new Fellows expands the Academy’s network of leading scientists, enhancing its capacity to foster knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and collaboration to drive impactful research in Africa.

The newly elected Fellows include sixteen (16) Associate Fellows, seventy-two (72) Fellows, with a gender distribution of sixteen (16) female and seventy-two (72) male scholars.
