Violet Naanyu, is an Associate Professor at Moi University Kenya and a Visiting Scholar at the Aga Khan University, Kenya. She is trained in Sociology (USA), Medical Anthropology (Holland), and Global Bioethics (Mexico). She is a Field Co-Director for the AMPATH Research Network (Behavioral and Social Science) and the Founder of AMPATH Qualitative Research Core, AMPATH Programs (ampathkenya.org/research). She is a Co-Founder and board member of the Focus Projects and Research Organization (FOPRO), Eldoret, Kenya; a member of the WHO Technical Advisory Group on Behavioural Sciences; a board member of the International Centre for Reproductive Health - ICRH (www.icrhk.org); a Scientific advisory board member of The Irsay Institute (https://irsay.iu.edu/); a facilitator of The Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa - CARTA (cartafrica.org), and the Co-Chair of the Indigenous Populations Special Interest Group (IPSIG), Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (https://www.gacd.org/). She is a member of the National Scientific and Ethics Committee, Kenya; a Committee Member of the Bioethics Society of Kenya and a Member of two research ethics committees in Kenya. She has extensively used qualitative approaches, community-engaged research, and human-centred designs. She has been involved in research activities in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique, Gambia, Zambia, and South Africa, and has over 118 peer-reviewed publications.
