Obua Joseph

Obua Joseph was elected as an AAS Fellow in 2009. As a fellow, Obua Joseph contributes to the development of the Academy's strategic direction through participation in AAS activities and governance structures. This gears the Academy's vision of transforming African lives through science.

Biography

Professor in the Department of Forestry, Biodiversity and Tourism. He is a graduate of Makerere University and University of Wales (UK). He has published over 70 papers including book chapters. He has also presented several papers in conferences in Uganda and beyond. He has supervised and examined several PhD and Masters Theses in Forestry, Tourism and Environmental Sciences. He has vast experience in establishing functional networks between researchers and academics at national, regional and international levels. He has served in senior management and governance positions in university and regional institutions responsible for higher education and coordination of Science, Technology and Innovation. He is the current Chairman of National Agricultural Research Organization Governing Council and member of the East African Community’s Science and Technology Commission Board. He is also a Fellow of Uganda National Academy of Sciences (UNAS).
