Mohamed Hameed is a professor and Director of Center for Nanotechnology and Director of the Nanotechnology and Nanoelectronics Engineering Program at Zewail City of Science, Technology & Innovation, Egypt. He is also a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University, Egypt. His research focuses on computational modeling and optimization of photonic devices, plasmonic sensors, metamaterials, integrated silicon photonic chips, and solar cells. He has an impressive publication record, with 210 journal papers, and 160 conference papers presented at leading national and international conferences. Additionally, he has co-authored two books: Computational Liquid Crystal Photonics (Wiley, 2016) and Computational Photonic Sensors (Springer, 2018). He has secured approximately $2.5 million in research funding, serving as a principal investigator (PI) or Co-PI. Prof. Hameed has supervised 25 PhD students, over 35 MSc students, and 15 postdoctoral research fellows to successful completion. He also serves as an associate editor for Optical and Quantum Electronics (Springer) and Sensors: Measurements (ScienceDirect). He has been appointed to several national scientific committees, including the Specialized Scientific Council of Fundamental Science Research (2018–2028), the National Committee of Physics (2018-2021, Vice President, 2022–2025), and the National Committee for Education, Science, and Culture (2022–2025). His contributions have been recognized with numerous national and international awards, including the Egyptian Government’s Incentive State Award for Engineering Sciences and the African Union–The World Academy of Sciences (AU-TWAS) Young Scientists National Award in Basic Science, Technology, and Innovation (2014/2015). Additionally, he has received the Shrouk Academy Award for Scientific Innovation in Electronic Engineering and Applications, Prof. Venice Kamel Award for Scientific Creativity in Technological Innovations, Prof. Amin Lotfy Prize for Physical Science, Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Computational Physics, State Prize for Excellence in Engineering Sciences from ASRT, and Khalifa Award for Distinguished Arab Professors.
