Biography

Lateef Oladimeji Sanni, is a Professor of Food Science and Technology from Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) and Executive Director, Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute. He has 35 years of experience as a post-harvest expert on tropical root crops. A graduate of FUNAAB (BSc, 1990) and University of Ibadan (MSc, 1993, Ph.D. 1999), Sanni began his academic career as an Assistant Lecturer in 1993, became Professor of Food Science and Technology in 2008 and served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development) in FUNAAB (2017-2019). He is a Fellow, International Academy of Food Science and Technology, Nigerian Academy of Science, Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology, the President, International Society of Tropical Root Crops, West African Association of Food Science and Technology. He is a consultant project Manager, BMGF sponsored project BASICS-II, Team lead, EU Seeds 4 Liberia and Co-Lead, World Bank-Sierra Leone- Food System Resilience Program, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). He is the chairman, coordinating team, Agro Food Network, African Association of Universities, member, the Global Council World Agriculture Forum and visiting professor, Natural Resources Institute of the Greenwich University, Chatham, Kent, UK...A recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology, 2011 FUNAAB Research Productivity Award (Senior Academic Category), 2012 FUNAAB Most Outstanding International Ambassador, and 2008 Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research Award for Regional Technology Development in Sub-Saharan Africa. He is the immediate past Chairman, Steering Committee of African Women in Agricultural Research and Development and Governing Council, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora. He has supervised over 100 undergraduates, 17 Master’s and 34 PhD students, published 196 technical papers, 1 patent, with Google citation of 6, 939, h-index of 43; Scopus 2032, h-index of 23.
