Ibe Oliver was elected as an AAS Fellow in 2015. As a fellow, Ibe Oliver contributes to the development of the Academy’s strategic direction through participation in AAS activities and governance structures. . This gears the Academys vision of transforming african lives through science.
Prof Ibe is an Associate Dean of Engineering for Undergraduate Studies at the University of Massachusetts in the US. He has made a significant contribution to the architecture, stochastic modeling, performance analysis and management of emerging communication network technologies; and significant accomplishment in engineering leadership and engineering education: 16 years of direct industry experience, rising up to the position of the Director of Network Architecture in major high tech companies and Chief Technology Officer in two start-ups As a network architect and director of network architecture in the telecommunications industry, he contributed significantly to the research and development of communication network products and services Won 3 teaching excellence awards in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UMass Lowell within a period of 12 years Sole author of 10 books on communication networks and applied probability, and a contributor to 5 other books Listed on 9 patents in different computer systems and telecommunications technologies Current citation of more than 1450, h-index of 18 and i10-index of 31 in Google Scholar As a faculty advisor of the National Society of Black Engineering UML chapter, he contributed to the success of many at-risk black students who would otherwise have dropped out of their engineering programmes
