Biography

Academic Qualifications:
•    Doctor of Technical Sciences in Post-harvest and Food Process Engineering (Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand), 2003
•    MSc in Biochemistry (Sofia University, Bulgaria), 1992     
•    Diploma in Chemistry (Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia), 1983    
•    PhD topic: Thermostable alpha amylases from the hyper thermal springs of Ethiopia
•    28 years of Academic and Research experience

Food engineering, food product development and evaluation, edible oils and fats science and technology, sanitation and waste management, food chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, food analysis, advanced food processing technology, food chemistry and toxicology, nutrition and health, nutritional biochemistry, plant biochemistry, chemistry and nutrition, chemical and physical changes in foods

Research
Phytochemical constituents, nutrient composition and antimicrobial effects of indigenous seed oils from Botswana, Climate change adaptation strategies for sustainable exploitation of plant resources, enhancement of indigenous food systems and management of emerging pests, characterization and technology transfer of value-added products from climate smart emerging crops to improve food security in Botswana and Namibia, Edible Wild Trees and Shrubs in Forest Reserves of Botswana: Nutritive Values, Role in New Food Product Development and Food Security. The research carried out till-date has credited him with more than 80 publications  among which one is selected by Science Direct as one of the TOP25 Hottest articles in the subject Area Energy (http://top25. sciencedirect.com/ index.php?subject_area_id=11. He has supervised 10 Doctoral and 17  master’s degree projects.  
Current Projects
Survey of indigenous foods of Botswana with potential for the development of functional foods, Livelihood diversifying potential of camel-based food security and climate-smart sustainable development in Botswana and phytochemical constituents, nutrient composition, and antimicrobial effects of indigenous seed oils from Botswana.
