Diop El Hadji Ibrahima

Diop El Hadji Ibrahima was elected as an AAS Fellow in 2004. As a fellow, Diop El Hadji Ibrahima contributes to the development of the Academy’s strategic direction through participation in AAS activities and governance structures. . This gears the Academys vision of transforming african lives through science.

Bio

Prof Diop obtained his MD at the Medical University of Dakar in 1979; he held residency in the same institution in 1980 then, left to Montreal where he graduated in Orthopedic Surgery in 1983. He has worked at Chief Clinics at the University of Dakar, UNDP Technical Cooperation in Indonesia, Administrator at Leopold S.S. Foundation in Senegal, Lecturer, Assistant Professor then Professor in 1990 in the same University. He is presently Medical Director, Chief of Department of orthopedics at the General Hospital of Dakar. He has been Fulbright research scholar at USC Downey Los Angeles, Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic surgeons, fellow of the international college of surgeons, Fellow of West African College of Surgeon, Vice President – General Treasurer and Funding member of the West African research association. He has been honoured as Knight in the Order of Academic Palms of France and in the National Order of Lion in Senegal, Officer in the National Order of Senegal Lion. He has more than 110 scientific publications.
