Chérif Dridi received the Ph.D. degree in physics in 2003 and the Habilitation HDR degree in 2010, both from the University of Tunis, Tunisia. After 14 years at the ISSAT (Institut Supérieur des Sciences Appliquées et de Technologie) of Sousse, where he founded the GREENS Team as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Physics, he joined the Center of Research on Microelectronics and Nanotechnology (CRMN), Technopole of Sousse, as an Associate Professor. Since January 2016, he has been a Full Professor of Physics-Nanotechnology and Head of the NANOMISENE (NANOmaterials and MIcrosystems for Health, ENvironment and Energy) Research/Development Laboratory at CRMN.
His research focuses on developing nanomaterials and nano/micro-systems for health, environment, agriculture, and food safety, as well as renewable energy harvesting, saving, and storage (e.g., supercapacitors, green H2). He has served as Principal Investigator/Expert Researcher in several bilateral (Tunisian-French/Algerian/Moroccan) and multilateral projects, including NATO Linkage/Science for Peace and EU FP7 IRSES Marie-Curie initiatives. He was the Tunisian NCP for Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials, Biotechnology, and Advanced Manufacturing and Processing (NMBP) in Horizon 2020 EU Projects (2016-2017) and in the UNESCO UNISA ITLABS-African Chair in Nanoscience & Nanotechnologies since 2020.
Together with his research group and collaborators, he has published or presented over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles and communications in these areas. He has been invited to speak at various universities and delivered talks at international conferences. In recent years, he has participated in several committees for international conferences and symposia. Currently, his team is exploring Green AI-integrated sustainable nanosensors and energy storage devices for sustainable development applications.
