Biography

Bolanle Otegbayo is a Professor of  Food Science & Technology at Bowen University, Iwo, Nigeria.  She is currently the Provost of College of Post graduate Studies (COPGS) of Bowen University. As a Food Chemist, the thrust of her research has been on identification of determinants of food quality in crops to ensure wholesome delivery to stakeholders in the value chain. Findings from her food quality research on yam are now being used by yam breeders to evaluate breeding lines for food quality attributes preferred by end users, thus shortening the breeding selection cycle.  

She has  won several grants and awards both national and international. She was a recipient of the distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship of African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) which was utilized at CIRAD, Montpelier and INRA, Nantes, France in 2011& 2012, where she worked on the physicochemical, functional, and molecular characterization of yam starch for potential industrial use. 

 Professor Otegbayo  has served  and is still serving as a reviewer and associate editor to many reputable International Journals (Elsevier, Wiley etc.), Technical abstract reviewer for Institute of Food Technology (IFT, USA), a juror for selecting awardee for International Food Security Award (IFT,USA) and also a member of the Trend setting committee an affiliate of the Annual Meeting Scientific Program Advisory panel  for IFT, USA. 

 She is  the current Chairman of  Technical Committee for Meat, Poultry and related products of African Organization for Standardization (ARSO) where she led the team to develop and harmonize 51 African standards being  used for trade purposes within African countries. She has served as a member and Chairman  of Technical committees of Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON). She is  married to Professor  Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, and they are blessed with lovely children.
