Prof. Anis Allagui was born in Tunisia, and holds both Tunisian and Canadian citizenships. He received a M.Eng. in Engineering Mechanics from the Ecole Polytechnique of Nantes in France in 2007, and a Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada in 2011. He then continued as a Postdoctoral Fellow for two years at the University of Ottawa, Canada. He has been with the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates since 2013, where he is currently a Full Professor in the Dept. of Sustainable & Renewable Energy Engineering. He also holds a position of Courtesy Professor in Florida International University, Miami FL, United States since 2020 (Dept. of Mechanical & Materials Engineering 2020-2023, and Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering since 2023). He was a Visiting Professor/Researcher at North Carolina State University, Raleigh NC, United States, and the University of Ottawa, Canada. His research interests are mainly focused on the design and modeling of electrochemical energy storage in supercapacitors and rechargeable batteries using both experimental and theoretical approaches. This includes a variety of advanced electrochemical and materials science techniques, fractional-order calculus and anomalous transport equations, physics-based models, and signal processing methods. He is the author and co-author of over 130 original publications in these areas in leading international journals, as well as five US patents. He currently serves on the Editorial Board of Scientific Reports (Springer Nature) and AEÜ - International Journal of Electronics and Communications (Elsevier).
