Biography

Adel Belouchrani  received the Engineering degree from Ecole Nationale Polytechnique, Algiers, Algeria, in 1991 an  MSc degree in signal processing from Institut National Polytechnique de  Grenoble, France in 1992, and a PhD in signal and image processing from Télécom  Paris, France in 1995. He was postdoctoral fellow at University of California at Berkeley, USA, from 1995 to 1996 and research associate with Villanova University, Villanova, PA, USA,  from 1996 to 1997.  From 1998 to 2005, he was with Ecole Nationale Polytechnique,  as an Associate Professor and a Full Professor since 2006.  He is among the pioneering researchers who contributed to the field of blind source separation. He led the work on non-stationary signals impinging on antenna arrays by introducing new concepts.  Founding member of the Algerian Academy of Science and Technology, he is among world's top 2% scientists according to Stanford University. He received the 2010 Algeria Scopus Award in the field of Computer and Electrical Engineering and he was awarded a Fellowship from U.S. National Academy of Sciences to conduct research at Brown University, Rhode Island, USA in 2016. He is IEEE Fellow (2020). Professor Belouchrani is Member Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (UNESCO-TWAS) (2025).
