Overview
The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) and the University of Ghana will hold a seminar on Accelerating Africa’s Research & Innovation Agenda, taking place on November 5, 2024, from 0900 to 1100 GMT at the University of Ghana (hybrid format).
This seminar aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063—the vision for “The Africa We Want”—and focuses on the critical role of science, technology, and innovation (STI) in achieving sustainable development across the continent. At its core, the Science, Technology, and Innovation Strategy for Africa 2024 (STISA-2024) champions four foundational pillars: enhancing research infrastructure, strengthening technical competencies, promoting entrepreneurship, and fostering a supportive environment for STI advancement.
Since 2015, the AAS has collaborated with AUDA-NEPAD and other partners to drive this vision, delivering on Africa’s priorities through impactful STI programs. As we embark on the next phase with STISA-2034, this seminar will highlight the achievements, ongoing partnerships, and future opportunities for strengthening Africa’s research and innovation landscape.
