Overview
Open science is a set of principles and practices that aim to make scientific research from all fields accessible to everyone for the benefits of scientists and society as a whole, including increasing access to global scientific activity and outputs by practitioners from less resourced regions in the global south. It does so by:
Alongside open access for journal articles and books, infrastructure, open data, code, and protocols are foundational elements of open science that enable transparency, reproducibility, and innovation. Realizing the potential of open science is intrinsically linked to the development of sustainable funding models, from grants to institutional support, crowdfunding, and collaborative consortia.
