Webinar: AAS Presidential Townhall Meeting
Key Information
Background information
The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) is an independent, non-aligned; pan-African and Africa-led organisation and strives to drive sustainable development in Africa through science technology and innovation (STI). AAS has tripartite mandate of recognising excellence through the AAS’ highly prestigious fellowship and award schemes; providing advisory and think tank functions for shaping Africa’s Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) strategies and policies; and implementing key STI programmes that impact on Africa’s developmental prospects.
AAS is excited to announce the Presidential Townhall Meeting that will take place on 15 August 2024 at the AAS Campus in Nairobi, Kenya. This hybrid event will offer both in-person and virtual participation, ensuring wide accessibility for all stakeholders.
This townhall marks one year since the election of our esteemed President, Professor Lise Korsten. It provides a unique platform to celebrate the Academy's milestones over the past year, unveil exciting upcoming activities, and engage with our diverse community of fellows, grantees, project partners, policy actors, journalists, and other key stakeholders.
Professor Lise Korsten will share key accomplishments from her first year in office and outline her vision for the next two years, aligning with the AAS's strategic plan (2023-2027). During this townhall, she will also share more information on upcoming and exciting events such as AAS’s participation at the Summit of the Future side event, the Olusegun Obasanjo Prize, Frontiers Planet Prize, AAS’s support to early career scientists, and the General Assembly scheduled to take place in Abuja in December this year.
We look forward to your participation in this important event as we celebrate our achievements and look ahead to a promising future for the African Academy of Sciences.
