Overview

The tenth annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum) will be held from 7 - 8 May 2025. The theme for the STI Forum 2025 is: “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, and evidence-based, science and technology solutions and innovations for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for leaving no one behind”.

Every year, the STI Forum brings together high-level policy makers and senior government officials with scientists, engineers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and representatives of organized science and technology communities, the UN system and international organizations. The Forum is a venue for facilitating the establishment of networks, knowledge sharing and the development, transfer, and dissemination of relevant technologies for the SDGs.

Session 4: Scaling up STI financing and capacity building and strengthening research infrastructures for sustainable development

In follow up to the Pact of the Future and in preparation for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), this session focuses on ways to scale up financing from all sources for scientific research and research infrastructures that support sustainable development. It will convene policymakers, funders, technology leaders, multilateral experts, and researchers to consider how to increase opportunities for research cooperation, especially in developing countries, as well as how to attract private sector investment in STI and how to deepen public-private partnerships, enhancing international collaboration, and reinforcing national and regional research infrastructures, ensuring a robust and inclusive STI ecosystem that accelerates progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Speakers

•    Dr Peggy Oti-Boateng, Executive Director, the African Academy of Sciences (AAS).
