Dr. Oluwafemi Adeleke Ojo is an assistant professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Bowen University, Nigeria. He has over 11 years of scientific research experience and is an expert in Phytomedicine, Molecular Toxicology, and Computational Biochemistry. He has contributed significantly to expanding the quality and range of research work on metabolic diseases, especially diabetes mellitus, by searching for safer, more effective, and affordable drugs from natural sources for the management of metabolic diseases. This is because of the undesirable adverse effects and resistance to the present synthetic drugs. Furthermore, he has significantly increased interest in these areas of research in young talent training and development. Presently, he is working on formulating an antidiabetic recipe from natural sources, which contributes to SDGs 03 (good health and wellbeing) and 12 (responsible consumption and production). He was elected as an AAS Affiliate for his contribution to the study of metabolism and diabetes through harnessing the potential of African medicinal plants and natural product sources in managing metabolic diseases.
The Affiliates Programme recognizes and supports the development of promising African early and mid-career scientists into world class research leaders who contribute to the Academy's vision of transforming lives through sciences.
